The above project was undertaken in November of 2010 by FairPoint Communications to protect and improve the integrity of the building. Water infiltration was deteriorating the facade and creating interior damage to the building.
The building is located in the Historical District of Portland. The Historical Commission reviewed the drawings and specifications and provided guidelines to follow.
It is a seven story building which houses Telecommunicatons equipment and Office space that services the Portland Metropolitan area.
The project consists of a Federalist Style building with a brick facade and an Art Deco Style Building with a limestone facade.
There are approximately 250 steel framed windows to be replaced with an aluminum window with energy efficient glass. The windows will match the existing historical profiles.
The masonry facade will be rebuilt along the roof line and re-pointed over 25 percent of the facade.
The roof is a 50,000 square foot membrane that will be replaced with new energy effecient insulation and a new membrane.
